International Adoption Clinic
A developmental examination should be included in the initial
comprehensive evaluation a child receives soon after her/his arrival
home. Many factors affect development, including the child's genetic
background, quality of care before adoption, medical and nutritional
health, and anxiety and emotional status. All of these factors should be
considered when assessing the development of internationally adopted
children.
